*Slight Spoilers*
The anime starts out in the middle of an action scene with the main character, Jeanne, breaking into a house. During the episode, we are introduced to Maron, her angel Finn, her best friend Miyako and Chiaki. Jeanne is Maron's other form and the reincarnation of Jeanne d'arc (Joan of Arc) She is to protect the world from demons that the "devil" sends to help gather power. The demons hide in a painting, item, or form of art and then attack a person thus taking over their body to help the devil. Jeanne must use a small, white pin that she throws at the original item the demon took over, locking it inside the pin while the person tries to stop her. When the pin gets stuck in the item, the entire thing, pin and item get turned into a small chess pawn that Finn grabs. To make matters worse, the police are after her because when the item disappears (Or turns in the pawn) they think she has stolen it . Maron's best friend is trying to capture Jeanne because her father is in charge of the group to catch her. Thus the name "Kaitou Jeanne" (Mysterious theft Jeanne). Sounds a bit like Saint Tail, right? Well, that is where the similarities end. Maron runs into a guy called Chiakai, and he starts to like her. Of course Maron likes him, but doesn't want to admit it to herself, so she becomes very rude to him.
While Jeanne was trying to capture a demon one day, a man by the name of "Kaitou Sinbad" appears and snatches the demon into a black pin that he has. (Wow, he looks a lot like Chiakai, no.. That blue hair doesn't give him away) He warns her that he is going to steal all of her targets, and Finn decides that Sinbad is working for the devil. After a couple times of this happening, Jeanne falls into a trap and Sinbad saves her, though he still demands that he will steal her targets. Access, Sinbad's black angel, has a crush on Finn (Whom he calls "Finn-chan") She doesn't have the same feelings for him though because she demands "I don't want any angel of the devil calling me Finn-chan!" The romance between Jeanne and Sinbad, and Maron and Chiakai (Same romance but in two different forms) becomes much more apparent through the series. Even Finn, begins to start to like Access. With both Sinbad and the police on her mind, Jeanne has more than she can handle. The plot has wonderful jumps and turns. Now for the ratings.
The Story (Plot line)- Reminds you a bit of Saint Tail in the beginning, but quickly changes to form an even better anime. I love the jumps it takes.
Animation- The animation in the character design is extremely beautiful, and the episodes are done very nicely.
